This post is by Lauren. I’ve never seen an avalanche in real life, but I found this video of one.  (The description says this guy survived, so no worries.) avalanche! Apparently these huge masses of snow can reach 80 mph in only 5 seconds!  One minute you’re just skiing down the mountain, the next minute there is tons of snow billowing all around you, completely submerging you, and there’s nothing you can do about it!  You can’t stop it, you can’t run away from it, it just happens.  Snow engulfs you.  Your body disappears, dwarfed by the massive blanket of…

Straw or gold?

I’m no poet.  If the human mind roughly consists of math and art, mine is 85% math, and the art side is used to figure out new ways to make life even more logical.  Believe me, I have tried to write poetry.  I end up focusing most on making sure the rhyming words rhyme and the meter is perfect.
