Dean Owens

deano@live.unc.edu

Campus Minister

Dean spent his early years in Charleston, SC but grew up in the great state of Virginia. He started going to church when he was 16 and decided to follow Jesus shortly after. He went on to Mid-Atlantic University and later to Hope International University for grad school. He’s been serving students at UNC since 2004 because Jesus called us to be a force for good and restoration to change the world and college students are crazy enough to believe they can do it. He loves seeing students lives changed by the Spirit and how they share that with their friends and community around them. He’s married and has two amazing kids. There’s been a number of hobbies over the years. Playing music, building guitar amps, riding motorcycles, and most recently, getting really interested in cooking. He likes just about anything that involves hands-on creating/fixing and learning. Favorite bassist - Victor Wooten. Favorite book - The Hiding Place. Favorite color - Green (like there’s any other choice).
